ANA INSPIRATION AS JIN YOUNG KO CONFIRMS HER TITLE DEFENSE

ANA Inspiration, as Rolex Rankings No.1,

Image result for Jin Young Ko today confirmed she will return to defend the title that saw her climb to the top of the world rankings.

Taking place at Mission Hills Country Club, Rancho Mirage, Calif., April 2 - 5, 2020, Ko returns after a stellar year which saw her crowned 2019 Rolex Player of the Year. Ko went on to win a second major last summer at the Evian Championship, with four wins in total and a remarkable record-breaking 114 hole bogey free run last summer and starts 2020 having firmly held the No.1 ranking since July.

Ko commented, “I can’t wait to return to Rancho Mirage and the ANA Inspiration. I have such happy memories from the whole week there last year, and with it being my very first major, I think it will always be one of my most special achievements in my career.  I would be so happy if I could manage to defend my title there this year so I will be doing everything possible to prepare to give myself the best chance.”

Ko added: “I am also really looking forward to attending the Champion’s dinner – it’s the dinner that everyone wants to earn the right to be invited to and I can’t wait to take my place at the table with such an awesome group of women.”

Ticket prices to watch the world’s best golfers compete in the first Major of the year start at $15 for pro-am day and from $30 on competition days, while children 17 and under are welcome free of charge when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Early bird discounts are available across all ticket types including Poppie’s Pavilion, the new 1972 Club and weekly ground passes.

The all-new 1972 Club will offer fans a premium view from a special structure built on the water with a unique premium view of the famous 18th green. The open-air setting, covered seating and convenient access to upgraded food and beverage options will be a popular addition, complementing the well-established Poppie’s Pavilion, which comes with an all-inclusive credential and reserved seating in an open-air setting, looking directly onto the 18th green & Poppie’s Pond.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting https://www.anainspiration.com/tickets-2020 and are available at a special discounted rate until February 2.

Active LPGA Tour Hall of Fame members and winners of all previous ANA Inspirations are eligible to compete while The Championship also awards sponsor invitations for top-ranked amateur players, including the previous year’s U.S. Women’s Amateur Champion, with the final amateur invitation spot going to the winner of the prestigious ANA Junior Inspiration, an AJGA sanctioned 54-hole invitational that takes place the weekend prior to the ANA Inspiration. The field is made up of 48 of the best juniors from around the world who qualify through the ANA Priority Mileage Points system.

It is notable how many of the current world’s best players started their major careers with the invaluable experience of being an amateur invite at the ANA Inspiration. The former invitees list reads like a Who’s Who of Women’s Golf and includes the likes of Michelle Wie, Georgia Hall, Lydia Ko, Angel Yin, Minjee Lee, Brooke Henderson, Su Hyun Oh and Nelly Korda.
