Arafura Games being hailed the best ever

What has been hailed the "Biggest and Best" Arafura Games in its 16yr history drew to a close last night in Darwin, Australia. Fiji can be justifiably proud of its team who finished 15th overall out of 42 nations. The Fijian swimmers contributing the lions share of medals. The 40 strong swim team, representing Suva clubs; Babale and Tritons did not disappoint, bringing home a number of Gold Medals, along with several new National records.

GOLD - 3 Medals

SILVER - 5 Medals
Raewyn Simpson - Babale, 17 & Over Girls 50m Freestyle
Raewyn Simpson – Babale, 17 & Over Girls 100m Freestyle
Jolyn Buadromo – Tritons, 17 & Over Girls 100m Breaststroke
Manasa Marasiale – Babale, 50m Freestyle (Disabled)

BRONZE - 8 Medals
Jolyn Buadromo – Tritons, 17 & Over Girls 100m Butterfly, 17 & Over Girls 200m IM
Tieri Erasito, Tritons, 11 - 12 Girls 100m Butterfly
Sean Chow – Babale, 17 & Over Girls Boys 100m Butterfly

The Tritons Swimming Club broke two National records in the Mens U15 and Womens U13 400m Medley Relay.
Congratulations to both clubs, no doubt the trip involved a great deal of fundraising and logistical co-ordination.
