Australia Cruise to Easy Win Over England A

By Rona Hunnisett

Australia's greater experience and pace allowed them to cruise to a 63-25 victory over the young England A side at the MEN Arena.

Captain Liz Ellis put in a dominant performance for the visitors, while Selina Gilsenan was awarded player of the match for a sparkling performance in the centre court for the visitors.

Meanwhile, England's Janet Coulburne was a stand out in defence for the home side, putting real pressure on the Australian shooters.  However, the speed of ball movement and understanding between the visiting side meant that England A was always on the back foot and with McMahon, Pratley, Cox and Heinrich all scoring with ease when they took to the court, Australia's shooting line up looked ominous with matches against England and New Zealand to follow later in the week.

Starting line ups:

Australia:  GK Ellis, GD Gerrard, WD Gilsenan, C N von Bertouch, WA L von Bertouch, GA McMahon, GS Pratley
changes/substitutions: 3rd Q:  GK Chatfield, GD Bulley, WD Chokljat, Gilsenan to C, N von Bertouch to WA, GA Cox, GS Hughes 4th  Q:   Gerrard to WD

Changes/substitutions:  2nd Q:  WD Seaton, 3rd Q:  GA Wood, Binns to WA, C Elsley, Siddall to WD Coulburne to GD, GK Beckford Chambers  4th Q:  Ezeogu to WA

Shooting statistics:
