KB4Girls 2010 World Tour with Kristin Boese conquers Scandinavia

TAMPA/MALMO/BERLIN, August 30, 2010: After two very successful European KB4Girls events in Spain and Germany, KB4Girls finally conquered Scandinavia last weekend.

Twenty-one kite girls traveled from as far as Denmark, Norway and all over Sweden to join 9-time world champion Kristin Boese and trainer Anki Knutsson in what was already the 8th KB4Girls clinic this year.

Supported by Kristin Boese’s sponsors Best Kiteboarding, Dakine, Kiehl’s, and the team from Surfstore.se, the Swedish edition of the KB4Girls world tour turned out to be yet another successful event for all participating girls as well as the trainer duo Kristin and Anki.

The focal spot for the event lay virtually in the shadow of the Oeresund bridge close to Malmo, and starred an endless area of shallow flat water: perfect conditions for all participants to learn new tricks and improve their kiting skills. Setting up their base camp on Camping Habo Ljung right next to the kite spot, the girls could enter the water effortlessly almost straight from their tents, at all times supported by the guys from Surfstore.se.

After the registration was completed, Friday afternoon passed with an initial get together for the participants to become acquainted with eachother. As usual, Kristin also talked the girls through the planned program and the ground rules of the event. To ensure the safety of all kite boarders on the water, an official IKO safety workshop was held. During this workshop, Kristin explained once more all safety systems as well the self-rescue techniques. So the next day the group of girls could enter the water safely, knowing how to react in critical situations and how to rescue themselves in case of danger.

Saturday started with perfect kite weather: one of those sunny windy days which are so scarce in Northern Europe. The KB4Girls group hurried to hit the water for a practical on-water demonstration and explanation of all tricks in secession by Kristin Boese. Having seen and memorized all moves, it was then time for the girls to give it a try themselves. Continuously coached by the trainers Kristin and Anki, all the ladies launched their kites and started their training. After a great kite day with a lot of personal successes, the girls spent the rest of the evening together at the camp around the campfire exchanging kiting stories and keeping warm.

After a great Saturday, the Sunday unfortunately brought less perfect conditions: The wind died down therefore the group decided to repeat technique work studying their moves with video coaching and simulator training.

World Champion Kristin Boese went through all tricks again one by one with the help of a teaching video that she produced herself.

In addition, the practical simulator training serves to put the teachings from the video teaching into practice on land. These simulator trainings also help to develop an idea about how a trick should “feel” like when done correctly. They also have proven to give the girls more confidence to try an entirely new move for the first time on the water.

The event concluded mid-day Sunday with the traditional prize ceremony. Kristin Boese and Anki Knutsson were very happy to honor Kristin Lippe and Jannicke Stav as the two most improved riders of the event. Before everyone left, each of the girls also received an official IKO card, worldwide accepted proof of the kiting skills and safety knowledge.

With 8 events accomplished around the world, the KB4Girls 2010 World Tour has been an amazing success. For the still upcoming events in 2010, check our website www.KB4Girls.com.
