Petra Kvitova has stormed into the semifinals of Australian Open 2019 with a thumping victory over Ash Barty on Tuesday night at Rod Laver Arena.
Kvitova dominated the first set, and although she was pushed harder by the Australian in the second set, she wrapped up a 6-1 6-4 victory.
She struck 25 winners to Barty's eight in the one-hour and nine-minute contest.
Kvitova will appear in her first semifinal at Melbourne Park since 2012, and will take on unseeded American Danielle Collins for a place in her first Grand Slam final since she won her second Wimbledon title in 2014.
Barty was the first Australian women to feature in the quarterfinals of her home Grand Slam since Jelena Dokic in 2009.
