In the world of football today we are gifted with two truly magnificent players who display prodigious talent and a level of skills that is unparalleled. Never before have we had two players who have totally dominated the game, broke as many records, or scored as many superb goals.
We are, of course, talking about Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo. Both of these footballers are at the top of the game and are considered the best players in the world. Their scoring records and accomplishments speak for themselves, not to mention their abilities and flairs. In 2017, betting-sites.me.uk reported that both players had scored over 550 goals throughout their career, ranking them among the ten highest goal scorers in football history.
Since their rise to stardom, a debate has raged as to which star is considered the best. Some people claim that Messi shows a greater level of skill and vision, whereas others claim that Ronaldo’s scoring ability and power are far superior.
This debate will probably continue to be alive for a long time, and there may never be a clear winner. What is for sure, however, is that both of these players will go down in history as all time greats, rivalling the achievements of Pele, Maradona, and Cruyff, for example.
If you take a look at stats of these two players, you can see there is not much separating them at all. For example, in the Spanish league, Messi made 417 appearances, 149 assists, and scored 383 goals. Ronaldo has 512 appearances, 126 assists and 397 goals – practically the same stat line!
Furthermore, Messi has 15 worlds records and 15 individual honors, whereas Ronaldo has 13 individual honors and 13 world records – again not much to choose between the two!
Who do you think is the greatest? Maybe the information in the infographic will help you decide and settle this debate once and for all!
