National Champion of Champions

National Champion of Champions

Mandurah Bowling & Recreation Club

In the women's singles, the battle for pool one when right down to the wire with Australian captain Lynsey Armitage triumphing over local Western Australia hope Noelene Dutton in straight sets, but by the slimmest of margins 7-6, 7-6.

Amitage now has one leg firmly placed in the final, but will be pitted against Northern Territory sharpshooter Arlene Foley, with Foley still capable of leap frogging Armitage and topping the group, provided she can produce a comfortable straight sets victory.

In the other section, NSW's Jan Agar continues to lead the way thanks to a successive straight sets win, this time accounting for the Victoria's Sandra McColgan.

Agar will now meet ACT's Sharon Harmer in round three, while McColgan, who currently sits in second, must rely on a victory from the Western Creek star and one of her own versus Tasmania's Mary Beaumont  to have any hope of advancing.

The third round of the National Champion of Champions at Mandurah commenced at 3.30pm AWST today.

Women's singles round two results:
Lynsey Armitage (QLD) def Noelene Abe (WA) 7-6, 7-6
Arlene Foley (NT) def Sharon Harmer (ACT) 6-11, 12-5, 5-0
Mary Beaumont (TAS) def Kerry Treloar (SA) 4-10, 6-5, 4-1
Jan Agar (NSW) def Sandra McColgan (VIC) 10-3, 9-7
