Stellar Field Assembled for ASGI Swiss Ladies Open

A field of 126 six players from 28 different countries will compete for the second title of the season at the ASGI Swiss Ladies Open, held at Golf Club Gams Werdenberg in Gams, Switzerland, from the 28th to 30th April, with prize money of €30,000. The main sponsor of the tournament is the Association de Suisse de Golfeurs Indépendant (ASGI).

Of the 15 Swiss players, seven professionals and eight elite amateurs, will feature in the field of competitors, including the three leading hopefuls Melanie Mätzler, Anaïs Maggetti and Caroline Rominger.

Mätzler, who is coming back to full fitness after recent surgery, has been heavily involved in helping to set up the tournament at her home club with the help of her father, Guido.

There are a number of LET players competing this week, including Denmark’s Emily Kristine Pedersen, who won the 2015 LET Hero Women’s Indian Open and the winner of the first edition of the ASGI Swiss Ladies Open and 2015 LET Rookie of the Year, Amy Boulden.

The young Welsh player is looking forward to competing in the event where she recorded her first professional win.

“I am really excited for this week. I have great memories and I always feel welcome in Switzerland. I had six weeks off and prepared at home. I saw my coach a few times and we worked a lot on my short game.”

The field will also feature defending champion and 2015 LETAS Order of Merit winner, Germany’s Olivia Cowan. The 20-year-old won the event as an amateur and looks forward to the challenge of defending as a professional player.

“I’m really excited, I love Switzerland…the view is always amazing and the course is great. I have played really well here so I’m just happy to be here and play my golf and then see what happens. I would love to win again but we’ll see.”

There are a further ten past winners on the LET Access Series, Tonje Daffinrud from Norway, Spain’s Mireia Prat, Emma Nilsson and Emma Westin from Sweden, Germany’s Karolin Lampert, Christine Wolf from Austria, Belgium’s Chloe Leurquin, Daisy Nielsen from Denmark, Scotland’s Michele Thomson and the winner of the opening event of the season, Spanish amateur Luna Sobron.

At the end of the 2016 LETAS Season, the top 5 players on the Order of Merit will earn their LET cards for the 2017 season and the next fifteen players will progress to the final stage of the Lalla Aicha Tour School.

Play will commence at 8.00am from both the 1st and 10th tees. Follow live scoring at www.letaccess.com
