BANDITS SWEEP REBELLION, TAKE SERIES FINALE IN EXTRA INNINGS

ROSEMONT, Ill. – A costly Rebellion error in the tenth inning allowed the winning Bandits run to cross home, as Chicago came from behind to beat Pennsylvania 6-5 to sweep the series.

Amber Patton, who began the inning on second due to international tie breaker rules, crossed home plate for the winning run on a Briana Hamilton throwing error.

Sara Moulton started in the circle for the Bandits while Tatum Edwards got the call for the Rebellion.

Ellen Renfore came on in relief of Moulton after three innings.

It was a pitcher’s duel once again through the first five innings but Taylor Edwards broke the scoreless tie in the sixth with a towering grand slam to the Party Deck in left field.

Angel Bunner came into the game to replace Tatum Edwards in the sixth.

Down 4-0 in the sixth, the Bandits began their comeback. Patton, Emily Allard and Danielle Zymkowitz all hit RBI singles with the bases loaded to cut the Rebellion lead to one.

Brittany Cervantes kept the Bandits alive with a two out homerun in the bottom of the 7th to even the score at four and send the game to extra innings.

Jenn Salling’s 8th inning RBI single put the Rebellion up 5-4, but the Bandits once again tied things up with a Kristen Butler RBI single before Patton scored on the Rebellion error in the bottom of the tenth to take the game, 6-5.

The Bandits had multiple relief pitchers step into the game for the final three innings as Kirsten Verdun pitched 1.2, allowing one run on two hits, while Monica Abbott finished the final 2.1 innings not allowing any runs on one hit including six strikeouts.

Abbott was credited with the win while Bunner suffered the loss, giving up two runs on two hits with one strikeouts in 3.2 innings pitched.

The Bandits hit the road for two weeks with series against the USSSA Pride and the Rebellion. They return to the Ballpark at Rosemont on Thursday, July 31 as they take on the USSSA Pride at 7:05 p.m.
