Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling is delighted to announce that Franky Van Haesebroucke will be joining the team as directeur sportif in 2014. The experienced Belgian was a professional rider for eight years, whose victories included several in the United States and Australia, and has been working as a directeur sportif since his retirement in 2001. He joins the black and orange team from men's Professional Continental team Champion System.

"I'm very pleased to announce Franky Van Haesebroucke as Wiggle Honda's new DS for 2014," said Wiggle Honda Pro Cycling team manager Rochelle Gilmore. "After three months of interviewing a number of candidates, I'm feeling very confident that Franky is the right man to lead our team to many more victories in the future.

"Franky has a strong positive reputation for being one of the best directeur sportifs in cycling," Gilmore added. "We're honoured to lure Franky into women's cycling and look forward to learning how he has achieved his reputation."

Since retiring from racing in 2001, Van Haesebroucke has served as directeur sportif for a number of teams, including iTeamnova and Navigators, before joining Champion System. Despite spending his career in the men's peloton, however, he is no stranger to women's racing, as his wife Cindy Bauwens was a professional rider for seven years and still competes in elite cyclocross.

"I'm excited for a new challenge in my life and that's directing one of the best women's teams in the world, Wiggle Honda," said Van Haesebroucke. "I know that our manager Rochelle Gilmore is a very motivated person and I want to help her in developing Wiggle Honda to become the best and most professional team out there."
