Coaching Staff announced for Bandits 2015 Season

ROSEMONT, Ill. – Chicago Bandits GM, Aaron M. Moore, announced today that Michael Steuerwald will make a return as the head coach of the Bandits for the 2015 season, where he will be joined in the dugout by assistant coach Roman Foore.

“The Bandits organization is very excited about the return of Coach Steuerwald and Coach Foore for the 2015 season,” said Moore.  “We feel very confident that they will be able to work well with the group of returning players we have and also the group of newcomers and rookies.

“Coach Steuerwald has been on my coaching staff for six different seasons and each time we’ve made it to the championship series.  It would be great for our team to get back there again in 2015!”

After taking a year off from coaching to serve as the Director of Softball Operations for The Dome at the Ballpark in Rosemont, Steuerwald is looking forward to upcoming season.

“I’m thankful for another great opportunity from Bill Sokolis, Mayor Stephens and Aaron Moore,” said Steuerwald. “I’m excited to get back on the field with the team in 2015 and look forward to working with Roman to help build a great product that the front office and fans can be excited about.”

Steuerwald entered the league in 2009 as an assistant coach with the Rockford Thunder before coming to the Bandits in 2010. In his five years with the Bandits, both as a head coach and assistant coach, Steuerwald helped lead the team to five-straight NPF Championship appearances and a Cowles Cup victory in 2011. He is also a two-time winner of the NPF Coaching Staff of the Year award.

“I’m looking forward to working with some of our veterans again, but I’m thrilled about the challenge of having such a young roster,” continued Steuerwald. “Even with a lot of new faces I expect us to compete every day and be right in the thick of the championship race at the end of the season.”

In addition to coaching, Steuerwald is giving back to the local community through Coaches Corner which will help underprivileged youth across the Chicagoland area be able to attend Bandits game throughout the season.

“I’m eager about the opportunity to build on a great tradition with the Bandits and grow the already amazing fan base that we have here in Rosemont.”

Foore, who is currently serving as an assistant coach for Bethel University in St. Paul, Minn., will be in his second season with the Bandits. Before joining the Bandits in 2014, Foore served as an assistant coach at Appalachian State University as well as St. Thomas (Minn.) University. Last season, Foore helped lead the Bandits to a regular season record of 30-18, which him and Steuerwald will look to improve upon in 2015.

“I’m excited to be back with the Bandits for another season,” said Foore. “I’m looking forward to working with Coach Steuerwald and the top softball players in the world. It’s an exciting time to be a part of this league with the expansion and addition of the Dallas Charge.”

Not only does Foore bring extensive fastpitch coaching experience to the Bandits for another season, he also brings playing experience having been a member of the United States Men’s National Team since 1998.

Tickets for all 2015 Bandits games, including the home opener on Thursday, June 4 against the Akron Racers, are on sale now. For more information about the Chicago Bandits, or to purchase tickets, visit www.chicagobandits.com.
