Maia Mei Weintraub, a lifelong Philadelphian who has grown up in the Fencing Academy of Philadelphia, has won gold in a field of 159 of the most elite North American women foil fencers at the October North American Cup with the support of her lifelong coach, Maître d'Armes Mark Masters. 
In the final round, Weintraub defeated friend, Team USA teammate, and Olympic gold medalist Lee Kiefer OLY 15-12. In the semi-final and table of eight Weintraub defeated Team USA friends and teammates Lauren Scruggs 15-8, and Zander Rhodes 15-14 respectively. Olympian Jackie Dubrovich OLY tied for third in this hard-fought contest.
Earlier this fall, Maia won silver at the 30th SISTA-SFZ Amsterdam Senior Women's Foil Satellite World Cup, following her gold at the São Paulo Satellite World Cup. Maia has medalled in three World Championships: Junior Team Silver in 2021, Junior Team Gold in 2022, and Senior Team Silver in 2022. In 2019 and 2023 Maia was Division I National Champion. In Summer 2020 Weintraub was a training partner for Team USA women foilists in the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Weintraub is the daughter of Elizabeth Surin and Jason Weintraub, and a graduate of Friends Select School. She is currently on leave from her undergraduate studies at Princeton University, where she was All-American and All-Ivy in 2022 and 2023; 2022 and 2023 Ivy Foil Champion; won the 2022 NCAA Foil Championship, and earned bronze in the 2023 NCAA Championship.
The Fencing Academy of Philadelphia was founded in 1989 by Maître d'Armes Mark Masters and Senior Coach Lara Masters, who together have developed four world champions in every weapon and age category, nationally successful fencers, college fencers, coaches, referees, and countless happy, healthy humans who love fencing. Maia is a hero to the fencing academy’s students, inspiring them as they learn to fence and start competing just as she did a decade ago.
