PRIOR CELEBRATES THE WSSF IN STYLE
Topsheet Launch Party a Rockin Success
Whistler, B.C. – It was a packed house at Maxx Fish on April 18th for Prior’s Topsheet Launch Party where media, locals and tourists alike all grooved to the beats of Mix Master Fab while taking in the live art show on the stage.
Prior, Whistler’s ski and snowboard manufacturer, unveiled the 2008 ski and snowboard line which included graphics that had been commissioned by local artists Vanessa Stark, Olivier Roy and Chili Thom. During the evening each of the three artists also created new one-of-a-kind pieces using Prior snowboards as their canvasses.
The onlookers were captivated by watching the process of each piece come to life before their eyes right in front of the dancefloor. Some members of the audience were so stoked on Oli Roy’s airbrush technique that they went on stage and had Oli paint directly onto their clothing!
Vanessa Stark who is one of Prior’s sponsored riders was a true champion for being able to come out and summon up her creative energies since she has been competing all week as a finalist in the If Ullr Was a Girl Contest and had been ripping it up in the Big Mountain event that very afternoon!
Several of the artists’ other works were on display in the lounge area for all to enjoy, there were go-go dancers shakin their booty on the side stages and Prior prizes were being thrown into the crowd.
Raffle tickets were being sold throughout the evening for the grand prize of a new custom Prior snowboard or skis. Congratulations to Alex McCumber of Vancouver who was the lucky winner!
Proceeds from the ticket sales were donated to the Whistler Arts Council to help fund their summer events including, the Whistler Children’s Art Festival, Whistler Art Workshops on the Lake and ArtWalk.
