Proud joins Australian Fast5 Netball World Series team

Maddy Proud has been brought into the Australian Fast5 Netball World Series team to replace Kate Moloney, who has withdrawn on recommendation from the Samsung Diamonds performance staff.

Moloney recently toured with the Samsung Diamonds during the Australian leg of the Constellation Cup series as a replacement player for Kim Ravaillion.
Samsung Diamonds performance staff have recommended Moloney withdraw from the Fast5 Netball World Series to ensure she can commence her recovery and preparation for an important 2019 which could include a January Samsung Diamonds tour, Suncorp Super Netball and the Netball World Cup.
Taking her place in the team is Maddy Proud of the NSW Swifts who is a strong mid-courter able to strongly impact the play in both attack and defence.
Australian Fast5 Netball World Series team coach Stacey Marinkovich said that while she’s sad to see Moloney withdraw, she is excited to secure Proud who has had a strong year in the Suncorp Super Netball league.
“Maddy will provide great run to our Fast5 combinations. Her ability to contest and mark opponents closely will provide us with opportunities to gain ball defensively,” she said.
“Maddy has shown great growth over the past Suncorp Super Netball season, being able to perform with consistency and intensity over the duration of the season.
“She brings voice and a competitive mindset that will not only challenge our opposition but will assist in driving the standard in partnership and collaboration with her teammates.”
The final Australian Fast5 Netball World Series team is:
  1. Jessica Anstiss – Western Australia
  2. Kiera Austin – New South Wales
  3. Verity Charles – New South Wales
  4. Sophie Garbin – Western Australia
  5. Matilda Garrett – Victoria
  6. Kimberley Jenner – Queensland
  7. Sarah Klau – South Australia
  8. Maddy Proud – South Australia
  9. Samantha Poolman – New South Wales
  10. Kaylia Stanton – Western Australia
The Fast5 Netball World Series is taking place in Melbourne for the third and final time on October 27 and 28.
