South Africa overcome England in Mount Maunganui

South Africa Women 236-7 beat England Women 235-9 by three wickets

South Africa Women got over the line in another nervy World Cup encounter to consign England Women to their third defeat from three games.

With four games left, Heather Knight's team are still able to qualify for the semi-finals but in all likelihood will need to win all four games and rely on other results going their way.

Asked to bat first by South Africa, England set 235-9, thanks predominantly to Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones who put on 107 for the fourth wicket.

Either side of Beaumont and Jones's effort, it was the Marizanne Kapp show - the South African all-rounder taking 5-45 to seal the Player of the Match award.

It was Kapp (32) who saw her side most of the way home with the bat, alongside 77 from Laura Woolvardt, and South Africa clinched the win in the final over despite another good showing from Sophie Ecclestone (10-1-23-1).

England Women will take on India at the same venue on Wednesday.
