Talita and Larissa post superb win in Brazil ahead of World Tour

Playing their former London 2012 Olympic partners Maria Antonelli and Juliana Felisberta, Talita and Larissa posted a 2-1 (21-14, 12-21, 15-12) victory in the 49-minute women's domestic championship match.  Both teams will be among the top-seeded pairs starting Wednesday at the US$800,000 ASICS World Series of Beach Volleyball event in Long Beach, Calif.

Alison and Bruno started their string of FIVB World Tour gold medal finishes by capturing the FIVB "senior" World Championships July 5 in The Hague followed by a July 12 title in the Gstaad Major in Switzerland.  The Brazilians third title-in-a-row FIVB title was July 26 at the Japanese Grand Slam in Yokohama.

In the women's third-place match, Fernanda Alves and Taiana Lima posted 2-0 (22-20, 21-19) win in 38 minutes over the Salgado sisters (Carolina and Maria Clara).  All four women's teams in Sunday's Brazilian medal matches will be competing in ASICS World Series of Beach Volleyball along with compatriots Agatha Bednarczuk/Barbara Seixas and Carolina Horta/Liliane Maestrini.

Agatha and Barbara, who topped the FIVB world championships podium by defeating Fernanda and Lima in The Hague July 4, did not compete in the Brazilian domestic event.  Horta and Liliane, who lost in the quarter-finals Saturday to Salgados, will join Agatha/Barbara, Talita/Larissa and Antonelli/Juliana in the Long Beach Main Draw.  Fernanda/Lima and the Salgados will begin play in the ASICS Tuesday qualifier.
