Wagar Just Misses Junior Snowboarding World PSL Finals

Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club's Cassie Wagar (Steamboat Springs, CO) just missed qualifying for the parallel slalom FIS Junior World Snowboard Championship finals Thursday matching her 18th from Wednesday.  Austria's Lukas Mathies and Switzerland's Julie Zogg clinched the Junior Worlds Championships in Valmalenco.

Wagar once again looked strong heading into Thursday's heats, but failed to advance to the finals. Parallel giant slalom Junior World champion Zogg picked up another title, sweeping the Junior World alpine snowboarding events. Cheyenne Loch of Germany also landed her second medal, besting her bronze from Wednesday with silver. Sabine Schoeffmann of Austria landed the final spot on the podium securing the bronze.

The 2011 FIS Junior World Snowboard Championships will continue Friday with the women's halfpipe qualifications. Halfpipe finals are scheduled for Saturday, April 2.
