Yarnold in stunning form in Sochi training

Bath-based skeleton slider Lizzy Yarnold continued her magnificent form with the fastest two training run times in the penultimate training session on the Sochi 2014 track this morning (Tuesday).

GB team-mate Shelley Rudman, a University of Bath graduate, ranked 13th and 14th today in training at the Sanki Sliding Centre.

Yarnold, who won the overall World Cup series in 2013/4 with four golds from seven podium finishes in eight races, clocked the first and fourth fastest times in the opening two training runs yesterday (Monday).

The pair get two more training runs each tomorrow (Wednesday) before the first two runs of the Olympic competition on Thursday. The women’s competition reaches its climax with the final two runs on Friday.

Yarnold said: "It was good fun out there today. We have just two more runs in training left so each one has to be a real experiment.
“I have to try as many lines as I can so that I pick the best ones for race day,” she added. I have lots to focus on for tomorrow, but will rest up now and then sit down with my coaches to sort out the to-do list for tomorrow's training.
“Being an Olympian is a dream come true, but I want to get better and better. There is a real buzz in the GB camp after Jenny's bronze medal and I can't wait to compete now."
Rudman said: "I'm pleased with this morning, things that I was struggling with yesterday I've managed to correct today, so that's positive. I feel like I'm getting into the rhythm of things, it's coming together and I'm really enjoying my time out here."

British Skeleton have their headquarters at the University of Bath where athletes train on the push-start track and state of the art gym.
