Gymnastics

"It is a secret to no one; we are having difficulty securing organisers for competitions on our calendar that lack the copious public present at more popular events, such as Artistic worlds. In 2005, we had trouble organising the two world cup and world series finals for Aerobic and Acrobatic Gymnastics, for lack of an organiser. In the same disciplines and for the same events, 2007 saw an identical problem arise prior to finding an acceptable solution. Over the next few years, with the exception of Artistic, the calendar is no longer secure in terms of organisation. We clearly have a problem that needs to be taken seriously and resolved."

These words do not lie dormant. For the 2nd World Cup Final in Acrobatic Gymnastics, the FIG will be sending in members of its own Swiss staff to work alongside organisers in the handling of the competition, the media and television. Joining the FIG ranks are technicians from Swiss Timing Ltd., who will handle scores and posting, and IRCOS cameramen, responsible for the recording and producing of technical images at the Final. A total of 14 individuals from the FIG and its technical partners will be collaborating in Puurs, alongside local organisers.

The President has kept his word!
