Rachael Blackmore somehow stays on Gin On Lime after incredible fall incident at Cheltenham

Rachael Blackmore managed to remain on her horse after she and another horse both fell on one of the final hurdles in a dramatic race at the Cheltenham November meeting.

Riding Gin On Lime, Blackmore along with sole rival My Drogo both dramatically fell on the second to last hurdle.

My Drogo's jockey, Harry Skelton, was unable to remain on the horse after the fall. But somehow, Blackmore was able to get back after being unseated, before going on to win the race.

My Drogo was odds-on to make a winning chase debut and looked to have the measure of his one rival in the rare two-horse race turning into the home straight.

Despite jumping the second to last fence well, the horse would stumble on landing, while the 7/4 Gin On Lime similarly sprawled with both horses at a standstill.

Skelton had been unseated, whilst Blackmore somehow managed to remain on the horse to go on and win the race. Fortunately, both horses and riders were fine after the race.

Skelton told Racing TV: "He jumped the fence fine and knuckled on landing then slide. I was delighted with him the whole way round, he jumped beautifully but a bit big at a couple down the back. He'd have won – we all know that.

"At least he's all right, I'm totally relaxed about. I'm frustrated that he hasn't completed the race and that goes on his record but that doesn't mean he's any less of a horse. Fair play to Rachael for staying on because they made a similar mistake, but that's racing."
