THREE FEMALE JOCKEYS TO WATCH FOR AT CHELTENHAM

It is no longer a matter of when because the women are already here, and how impressive have they been? A female jockey has ridden at least a winner at Cheltenham in the last five years, not counting multiple female jockeys riding winners in one event. Impressive as they have been, women jockeys continue to draw the short straw in the eyes of fans and pundits. After missing out on last year's The Festival thanks to the coronavirus, this year's event will be extra special and may just have women at the peak of their powers, meaning fans would do well to find tips on bettingroyalascot.co.uk. Female jockeys have always found a way to rise and go beyond the occasion when the lights shine brightest. March and its bright lights is almost upon us, and we take a look at three of the female jockeys we should not sleep on.

Hollie Doyle

The youngest on this list, Hollie Doyle, is the new golden girl of horse racing, even before the shine on the other names of this list have dulled. At only twenty-four years old, Doyle has already set a new record for the number of winners ridden by a woman in a season, accomplishing the feat in 2019 and then breaking her own record in 2020 with 117 wins. She is the only woman to win five races in one race card in Britain, and though she is yet to win at Cheltenham, Doyle already has wins at the Royal Ascot under her belt. This season, the flat jockey has 21 wins in 168 races, with five of those coming within the last 14 days.

Rachel Blackmore

The most versatile jockey of the lot, Blackmore is just as popular and successful in Britain as she is in Ireland. The 31-year old Irish woman is licensed for both flats and jumps, and she holds her own in both categories. Blackmore turned pro in 2015, and has been on a tear ever since, capturing thirteen major victories within the last two years, despite the intrusion of the pandemic to curtail the 2020 season. This season, Blackmore has 77 wins in 448 races, 50 of those coming in hurdles. Six days removed from her last win, Blackmore will certainly have her sights set on March and The Festival.

Bryony Frost

Since her amateur days, Frost has always shone brightest at Cheltenham and has the backing of one of the best trainers in Britain, Paul Nicholls. Her most recent win at The Festival came in 2019, with Frodon at the Ryanair Chase. With 34 wins this season, Bryony is working herself up for one of her best events of the calendar. While she has registered only a single win in her last sixteen rides, Frost has been very active and should step into March in tiptop condition. Her most recent outing was on the 15th of February at Lingfield, and she is booked right up to the 21st of February.

Three women with a habit and taste for winning, its on!
